Local: Free swimming lessons (and cheap public swimming) for kids in Charlotte in 2012

Charlotte’s two public outdoor pools offer free swimming lessons throughout the 2012 summer for kids age 3 to 12.
The pools are:
Cordelia Pool

Lessons are: Mondays and Wednesdays 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
Double Oaks Pool
1200 Newland Rd.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9 a.m.-9:45 a.m., 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. or 11 a.m-11:45 a.m.
Signing up for lessons isn’t as hassle free as some parents would like, but the lessons are free. Starting Wednesday, June 13th, you need to sign up in person at the pool for the following week. Every Wednesday you need to sign up for the next week.
In addition, kids and adults can swim at these pools for just $1 a day. Pools open Saturday, May 26th and will be open every weekend through Labor Day. Pools will also be open on weekdays after the last school day of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, June 9th.
